The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. He is committed to promoting basic human values, to fostering inter-religious harmony, advocating for the welfare of the Tibetan people and reviving ancient Indian knowledge. In 1989 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
The brutal occupation of Tibet by the Chinese communists and the installation by them of a puppet or ‘fake Lama’ outraged liberals and progressives everywhere. The ‘real’ Dalai Lama was forced into exile. The liberal elite fell over themselves in their haste to condemn China and support the Tibetan cause. Politicians, celebrities and religious leaders the world over clamoured to be photographed with him.
But over the last couple of years the cause of a free Tibet seems to have disappeared from view. Was it because of the capitalist obsession with having shoddy products for western markets produced at a pittance by the worker slaves in China, then exported back here to be sold for large profit had led to a media blackout, so as not to offend communist China. But….
We have recently been made aware of an interview the Dalai Lama gave to Fox News in America a few years ago which contained extracts of a speech he made during a conference in Malmo, Sweden’s third-largest city, known for its large immigrant population.
The Dalai Lama said that “Europe belongs to the Europeans” and that refugees should eventually return to their native countries to rebuild them.
“I think Europe belongs to the Europeans. … “Receive them, help them, educate them … but ultimately they should develop their own country.”The Dalai Lama
“Europe, for example Germany, cannot become an Arab country. Germany is Germany. There are so many that in practice it becomes difficult.”The Dalai Lama quoted in the Washington Post
“From a moral point of view, too, I think that the refugees should only be admitted temporarily,” he continued, adding that “The goal should be that they return and help rebuild their countries. The Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama knows what it is like to watch as your ancestoral homelands are taken from you, in Tibets case by an aggressive neighbour, in ours by the mass immigration into Europe by many millions from the third world.
