Fields, Pubs & Dogs Fail Diversity Test

Fields Fail Diversity Test

Britain’s rolling hills and postcard villages are apparently facing an existential crisis: they are, according to official reports, far too white. Rural pubs have been singled out as especially problematic, having allegedly failed to roll out the welcome mat convincingly enough for Pakistani and Bangladeshi visitors. In 2024, a report called for dogs to be banned from parts of the Welsh countryside to help make the country ‘anti-racist’.

In response, authorities across the Chilterns, the Cotswolds, and other famously tranquil landscapes have signed up to nationwide diversity schemes designed by Defra (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs), which has concluded that the countryside risks becoming culturally obsolete unless it undergoes urgent demographic rebranding.

Perhaps Defra should also note two recent acts of serious misconduct for its diversity blacklist: a couple of clean-ups carried out by British Movement North West teams and the Citizen Foresters. Clearly, tidying public spaces is the next frontier of “problematic” behaviour.

One of our BM North West activists continued the cleanup efforts in the woodland today with another successful litter pick, collecting one bag from the woodland. This may seem a small act, but it makes a great difference to the countryside and wildlife. The activist also practised some bushcraft and fire-lighting skills, ready for summer as always. Be kind to Nature, and get active.

The British Movement Northwest Citizen Foresters were out and about in our local woodlands recently purging the countryside of litter and junk as part of our Keep Britain Tidy enterprises.

They also risked life & limb climbing trees, installing homemade bird boxes. These will provide safe nesting sites for future generations, which is crucial for their survival and reproduction.
