No Case To Answer

Early last May, North West British Movement activists were the subject of dawn raids by Greater Manchester Police over allegations of celebrating the Führer’s birthday in an Oldham pub. The pub landlady only became aware of the private celebration the next day, when left-wing journalists from the Manchester Evening News turned up and put pressure on her. No one in the pub witnessed anything ‘upsetting’ or was offended.

The nine were arrested on suspicion of Section 18 Public Order Act offences, which include displaying written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting, intended to stir up racial hatred. As no one witnessed anything ‘threatening, abusive or insulting’ that evening, the raids were seen as a fishing expedition targeting a growing political threat.

We can now reveal that our arrested comrades, who were bailed with strict conditions until November 5th, have been informed that they had committed no crime and that no charges will follow on from the birthday party. A full report on this will appear later.
