Fatal Stabbing Of British MP Is Terrorist Incident

The British Conservative MP Sir David Amess has been stabbed to death while conducting a constituency meeting in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. A 25-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The MP, who was 69, died from multiple wounds and a knife was recovered at the scene of the attack, a Methodist church in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. The man arrested for the murder has been named as Ali Harbi Ali.

The attacker, who is described as a ‘British national with Somali heritage’, is not thought to have been previously known to the security services.
