A 31-year-old ‘Leeds’ man has been jailed after being convicted of raping a man in Leeds. Abdi Wahab Abdulla, of Harehills Avenue, was found guilty of rape and attempted rape following a four-day trial at Leeds Crown Court. He had already admitted to stealing from the same victim.
The attacks took place in the early hours of 14 January 2023. The victim, who was 19 at the time, had been on a night out and fell asleep inside Queens Arcade in Leeds city centre. He was heavily intoxicated and unable to defend himself. CCTV footage showed Abdulla entering the arcade, approaching the victim, and going through his pockets before stealing the victim’s property.
The victim woke up as this happened, and Abdulla then helped him to his feet and walked out with him. He later followed the victim for some distance, threatening him with a knife and orally raping him near the Merrion Centre before attempting to anally rape him in Woodhouse Moor Park.
Abdulla stole keys and a credit card from his pocket. The victim reported the offences to the police later that day. Officers identified Abdulla through CCTV footage, leading to his arrest on 12 February 2023. He was also later linked to the offences through forensic DNA evidence
Detective Constable Jack Powell, of Leeds Safeguarding, said: “These offences have had a huge impact on the victim, and I know no sentence can or will ever make up for the awful ordeal that he has suffered. I hope though that he is reassured that Abdulla has been held accountable for what he did and that he feels safer knowing that Abdulla is now in prison.
“The victim received specialist safeguarding support throughout this investigation, and I would urge anyone who has been the victim of any sexual offence to please come forward so that you can also be safeguarded. Offences against boys and men in particular are believed to be under-reported. I want to reassure male victims that you are not alone and that there should be no stigma in coming forward.”
We could find no mention of Abdulla’s nationality, residency status or how long he had been in this country in any of the media reports. We cannot imagine the feelings of shame and the stigma attached to the innocent victim of this attack, whose only crime was to have a few too many drinks on a night out in the city centre on a weekend. How much longer are our people going to tolerate what the old gang politicians have done to our homeland?
The judge sentenced the pervert to a pathetic seven and a half years in prison on Friday, 27 March 2026, and he will remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
Castration and deportation would be more appropriate in cases like this.
