Two-Tier Justice at Bradford Crown Court

Keighley Grooming-rape gang
The Keighley Grooming-Rape Gang trials.

The BM Northern region invites its readers to draw their own conclusions.

Although the Keighley grooming gang trials concluded in January of this year, arrests were still being made in February and appeals against sentencing did not conclude until May 13th 2025, (plus two of the accused are still on the run, whereabouts unknown but probably in Pakistan).

Initially the news media tried to be factual about the Keighley grooming-rape gang trials.

“Over the course of the last two years multiple men have stood trial at Bradford Crown Court after being charged with a variety of non-recent sexual offences. Today (17 January 2025) we can report that the men have been handed down jail sentences. All the charges relate to offending which happened in the Keighley area between 1996 and 1999 and the victims were young females aged between 13 and 16 at the time.

The trial at Bradford Crown court was hailed by the usual liberal journalists of the mainstream media as being a clear example of multiculturalism working because the trial of the ‘Pakistani-heritage’ gang members was to be in front of a so-called, ‘British/Pakistani judge’. News headlines dutifully hailed this situation, holding it up as an example of how the justice system was impartial and multicultural.

The mainstream media made much of the fact that a “British/Pakistani judge” was sitting in judgement on the trial of this Keighley grooming gang, but in the end, harsh sentences were not the order of the day. Moreover, despite the horrific details of the trials of the Keighley grooming-rape gang, the use of class A drugs and alcohol to render an underage White girl compliant, and other sexual offences against a second girl, some of the accused were freed on bail, and two of the accused not only failed to appear at the court for trial, but ‘disappeared’ and are believed to have been assisted by others to flee to Pakistan.

Nevertheless, the liberal mainstream news media hailed the outcome of the sentencing at the end of January. “British-Pakistani Judge Ahmed Nadim has sentenced three men from Keighley who were part of a West Yorkshire grooming gang in the late 1990s for rape at Bradford Crown Court. Overall, a group of eight men, who were part of the grooming gang have been jailed.”

And this too, surely a clear indication that justice had been served without fear or favour?

“British-Pakistani judge hands jail terms to West Yorkshire grooming gang members Sentences gave victims “comfort of knowing that their voices at long last have been heard”, says Judge Nadim”. But in the end, harsh sentences were not the order of the day. In addition arrests warrants had to be issued for the two accused who had absconded.

“The Ahmed brothers’ location is unknown and a bench warrant was issued for their arrest. Officers from West Yorkshire Police and Lancashire Police have today arrested eight people on suspicion of assisting an offender.”

At the original sentencing in January 2025 it was reported that the judge gave a mere six and a half years to one defendant, Ibrar Hussain because he was a ‘changed character’ and was now ‘involved with his local mosque’.

The lenient sentences given by Judge Ahmed Nadim were questioned by Conservative MPs in the House of Commons and referred back for a judicial review of the sentences. “Robbie Moore, Tory MP for Keighley and Ilkley, had written to the Attorney General calling for the eight sentences to be reviewed.”

And Conservative MP Robert Jenrick asked this of the Labour government ministers; “These men committed some of the most appalling crimes imaginable: rape, exploitation, and the sustained abuse of two young girls aged just 13 and 16, here in our town.”

He added: “Radical change to sentencing is needed. I will continue to push relentlessly for the strongest possible sentences for these monsters and every single individual convicted of serious sexual offences in our area. Nothing less is acceptable.”

Speaking at justice questions, Mr Jenrick told the House of Commons: “Two weeks ago, three grooming gang members were sentenced for the most appalling rapes at Bradford Crown Court, but they only received six, seven and nine-year sentences respectively.

“Six years, out on licence in four, for the rape of a child. Does the Secretary of State agree with me that these sentences are disgracefully short and will she commit to using the sentencing review to mandate full-life sentences for these evil people?”

The sordid details of all the trials, the details, the names and personal details of the offenders and their sentences are listed here, the judge’s comments at the Bradford trial plus the follow up increased sentences. All in all these trials serve as a damning indictment of multiculturalism and ‘diversity’.

The first victim came forward to Police as an adult and reported the abuse she had suffered. An investigation was then launched by the non-recent child sexual exploitation team in Bradford. During the course of those enquiries the second victim came forward. With the exception of Din, who has been convicted of raping both girls, all the offences were committed against the first victim.

After the first trial which concluded on 20 October 2023 five men have received the following sentences:
Amreaz Asghar 47 of Keighley was jailed for 4 and a half years for rape
Perwaz Asghar 50 of Nottingham was jailed for 6 and a half years for two indecent assaults
Mohammed Din 47 of Keighley was jailed for 14 years for 11 counts of rape
Sajid Mahmood Khan 45 of Keighley was jailed for 3 years for rape.
Zehroon Razak 47 of Keighley was jailed for 6 and a half years for rape.

In a second trial which concluded on 13 December 2024 one man was convicted of child sex offences and two other men were also convicted but the trial was held in their absence. They were sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on 17 January 2025.
Fayaz Ahmed 45 of Bingley was sentenced to 7 and a half years after being found guilty of two counts of rape in his absence. **
Imtiaz Ahmed 61 of Keighley was sentenced to 9 years after being found guilty of rape in his absence. **
Ibrar Hussain 47 of Keighley was jailed for 6 and a half years after being found guilty of two counts of rape.
A 47-year-old man was not fit to stand trial. A trial of facts took place and concluded that he did commit rape. He’ll be sentenced at a later date.

A 47-year-old man was not fit to stand trial. A trial of facts took place and concluded that he did commit rape. He’ll be sentenced at a later date.

Ibrar Hussain raped the girl twice in a basement flat over a month in 1996 when he was 18. He was said to have given her heroin “as part of the grooming process”.
His Honour Judge Ahmed Nadim said Imtiaz Ahmed had raped the victim in a flat above the grocery shop run by his family in 1997 when he was 35 and that he did not recognise moral or legal boundaries.
The judge continued to say Fayaz Ahmed’s crimes were not very different to those of his elder brother. He added that Fayaz Ahmed was 17 or 18 when he took her to the grounds of a local school where she would be raped.

On conclusion of the trial, police published details of an earlier linked trial, which concluded on October 20, 2023, in which five other men received the following sentences:
Amreaz Asghar 47 of Keighley was jailed for 4 and a half years for rape.
Perwaz Asghar 50 of Nottingham was jailed for 6 and a half years for two indecent assaults.
Mohammed Din 47 of Keighley was jailed for 14 years for 11 counts of rape.
Sajid Mahmood Khan 45 of Keighley was jailed for 3 years for rape.
Zehroon Razak 47 of Keighley was jailed for 6 and a half years for rape.

“Two girls who were passed between men in a grooming gang for sex were treated as “authoresses of their own misfortune” by police and social services, a judge said, as he jailed three of those involved.
Ibrar Hussain, 47; Imtiaz Ahmed, 62; and Fayaz Ahmed, 45, were sent to prison for six-and-a-half years, nine years, and seven-and-a-half years respectively at Bradford Crown Court on Friday, by a judge who described how they raped one of the girls in Keighley, West Yorkshire, in the 1990s, when she was 13 or 14. Only Hussain left the dock to start his sentence, as the Ahmed brothers both absconded during their trial and are believed to be abroad, the court heard.”

It is interesting to note, with the gift of hindsight, the comments of Judge Ahmed Nadim about the cases before the bench, but the sentences he imposed do not reflect the ghastly crimes. Why?

Judge Ahmed Nadim said the girl’s mother went to Keighley police station on a number of occasions to report her missing, but officers “did not do anything about it”.

Judge Nadim said: “To differing degrees, the social services and police response to the situation (the girls) found themselves in was that they were the authoresses of their own misfortune”. He described how the girls were plied with drugs and alcohol as they were passed between numerous men, “virtually all of whom were of Asian heritage”, in the town in the 1990s, when they were in their early teens.

The judge explained how the girls each had “unhappy home lives” and one was bullied in school. He said this left them “vulnerable to sexual exploitation” and the “lure of older men that other girls wanted to be with”. The judge said they misguidedly thought they were getting the “compassion, care and attention” they were lacking at home, but this turned into rape and abuse.

He said one of the girls was raped twice by Hussain in a basement after he plied her with heroin. She was also raped on a school field by Fayaz Ahmed after he met her when he was introduced by a man and woman who were operating her as a sex worker.
Fayaz Ahmed has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years (West Yorkshire Police/PA).

Judge Nadim said: “The message must go out loud and clear that the criminal justice system will do all it can to protect young and vulnerable members of our community.” He said he hoped the girls would find it a “comfort to know that their voices, at long last, have been heard”.

Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Greenbank, of Bradford District Police, praised the courage of the girls, who reported the abuse in 2016. She said: “I hope this sends a clear message that, regardless of how long ago these offences may have happened, we will pursue every avenue to get justice.”

“West Yorkshire Police said a warrant has been issued for the arrest of the Ahmed brothers and inquiries are ongoing to locate them”.

Grooming gang absconders. Fayaz Ahmed and Imtiaz Ahmed

Michael Quinn, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said the men’s actions were “wicked, vile and sordid”. He said: “These convictions send a very clear message that the CPS, working alongside law enforcement colleagues, will relentlessly pursue justice for victims and prosecute those who sexually exploit children, whenever that abuse took place.”

“Court of Appeal increases sex offenders’ sentences”
“In January, Ibrar Hussain and brothers Imtiaz and Fayaz Ahmed, all from Keighley, were convicted of raping a vulnerable young girl when she was in her early teens. Hussain was sentenced to six years and six months for two counts of rape, Imtiaz Ahmed was sentenced to nine years for one count of rape, and Fayaz Ahmed was sentenced to seven years and six months for two counts of rape.

“The Attorney General’s office has today confirmed that Hussain’s sentence was increased to 10 years, Imtiaz Ahmed’s sentence was increased to 11 years, and Fayaz Ahmed’s sentence was increased to 10 years. Their sentences were referred to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence Scheme (ULS).

“Imtiaz Ahmed and Fayad Ahmed are believed to have absconded to Pakistan in 2023. They were sentenced in absentia.”

For those readers who have had the patience and strong stomach to read through all the above official reports of these trials, the questions remain; Why were the sentences on some of these men so lenient? And why were two alleged rapists allowed free on bail to abscond to Pakistan? And who exactly, in West Yorkshire and Lancashire and from which community assisted those two to flee the country, given the crimes they were facing trial for?
