Heywood And Rochdale: Yet Another Story Of ‘Cultural Enrichment’

Both Douk Deng arrested

Once again British Movement Northern Region brings its readers more evidence of British culture being ‘enriched’. Remember that the political Left regularly remind us that ‘diversity is our strength’.

So here is another bizarre interpretation of that mythical ‘cultural enrichment.’ This time from the outskirts of Greater Manchester (Prime Minister Andy Burnham please take note!).

This ‘asylum-seeker’ aka illegal immigrant was not one of the supposed ‘doctors, engineers or computer scientists’, in fact he spoke “limited English” and wants to bring his wife and children from South Sudan to live with him in the UK. Yet more enrichment at the tax-payer’s expense.

Different mainstream media accounts reported on the case but most did not dig too deeply into the seriously dangerous nature of Both Douk Deng’s actions or his motivation. Nor did any of the mainstream media demand Deng’s deportation.

THE TELEGRAPH
“Failed asylum seeker took hatchet to school to get Home Office’s attention, court told The 21-year-old from South Sudan was also carrying a hammer, a knife, and half a litre of petrol.

“A failed asylum seeker who approached a school armed with a hammer, a hatchet and a kitchen knife “to create a scene for attention” has been jailed for two years…”

THE INDEPENDENT
“Failed asylum seeker jailed after taking hammer and hatchet to school for ‘attention’. Both Douk Deng wanted to ’create a scene for attention’ to aid his cause, the court heard”.

“A failed asylum seeker who took a hammer, a hatchet and a kitchen knife to a Greater Manchester school “for attention” has been jailed for two years.

“South Sudanese national Both Douk Deng, 21, became “increasingly frustrated” that immigration authorities were not providing assistance in his bid to stay and work in the UK. Deng, who has applied for and been refused asylum on three occasions, wanted to “create a scene for attention” to aid his cause, Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

“He was arrested after workmen confronted him on the premises of Edgar Wood Academy in Heywood on August 6 last year.

“A member of the public earlier raised the alarm after he was observed “behaving oddly” in the street nearby en route to the secondary school holding a petrol can with a hammer tied to his belt.

“Deng was “mumbling” as he walked a “full circuit” around the school, which was closed to pupils for the summer, as he scanned the building and then approached it before builders working on site became concerned and called the police. He had become “increasingly frustrated” that immigration authorities were not helping him stay in Britain.

“Deng, who has a wife and child, was arrested after workmen confronted the South Sudanese at Edgar Wood Academy in Heywood, Greater Manchester, on August 6 last year.

“He was seen “mumbling” as he walked a “full circuit” around the school with a hammer, hatcher, seven-inch kitchen knife, and jerry can containing half a litre of petrol, Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard.”

The reality of the case is that here was a South Sudanese illegal immigrant who was refused permission to remain in the UK three times and yet persisted in his attempts to continue to remain here! Add to this the facts that Deng was living in a tax-payer funded HMO (House of Multi Occupancy), was receiving all the usual ‘asylum-seeker’ handouts, free meals, medical care etc.

After three failed attempts at being granted asylum, why was this man not deported back to his family in South Sudan?

As for mainstream media coverage, for once the Manchester Evening News actually gave some in depth coverage but without demanding Deng’s deportation .

MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS
“Terrifying moment cops tackled screaming knifeman on school grounds

“Both Douk Deng was said to be ‘frustrated’ that his asylum claim had been refused.”

On-line the Manchester Evening News actually posted the body cam footage supplied by Greater Manchester Police, a bizarre piece of video given the squealing and screaming from Deng.

“The terrifying moment that response officers detained a man wielding a knife on the grounds of a school in Rochdale.

“Local cops were called to the Edgar Wood Academy in Middleton on August 6 last year after a staff member reported a suspicious man on the grounds of the school, at which no children were present as it was the summer holidays.

“Body cam footage shared by Greater Manchester Police shows officers jumping from the car and running at Both Douk Deng, 21, ordering him to stop. There is a brief scuffle before the officers tackle Deng to the ground as he screams. They can be heard remarking that he has a hammer and a hatchet with him.

“Both Douk Deng was jailed for two years today (July 28) after pleading guilty to a range of offences including criminal damage and possessing weapons and a knife in a public place and on school premises. Deng had become ‘increasingly frustrated’ that immigration authorities were not providing assistance in his bid to stay and work in the UK. The South Sudanese national, who applied for and was refused asylum on three occasions, wanted to ‘create a scene for attention’ to aid his cause, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

“He was arrested after workmen confronted him at Edgar Wood Academy in Heywood, on August 6 last year.

“Along with the hammer and hatchet, he was found to be in possession of a seven-inch kitchen knife and a jerry can containing half a litre of petrol.

“A day earlier he was spotted ‘acting oddly’ at another school, Holy Family RC and CE College in Rochdale, also closed to pupils, where he kicked and damaged its intercom. Sara Haque, defending, said: “He maintains that his actions were not motivated by any desire to injure or harm any person.

“This was a bizarre and compulsive act lacking in any type of maturity at a time when he was in deep distress having left Sudan and his family in traumatic circumstances.

“He wanted attention and he was in crisis but he was not motivated by hostility towards children, teachers or the wider public. There is no evidence that he threatened any individual.”

OK. EXCEPT THIS TOOK PLACE ON TWO DIFFERENT DAYS AT TWO DIFFERENT SCHOOL PREMISES!

Deng, who has a wife and children, was placed in multiple accommodation housing (HMO) on his arrival in the UK, the court was told. Ms Haque said: “He found himself in a foreign country with very limited English and unable to work because of his immigration status.”

“He believed and felt no-one was listening to him and no-one was helping him.”

“Psychiatric reports on the defendant had not identified any major mental health issues, the court heard. Deng was told he must serve up to half his sentence in custody and the remainder on licence. Judge Bernadette Baxter told him: “I have no power to order the Home Office to do anything.”

On this occasion the accused migrant’s defence lawyers could not claim that Deng had a ‘mental illness’. But the court was unable to order his deportation.

So there it is, yet another example of Britain suffering the ‘cultural enrichment’ that is being brought into the UK by illegal immigrants and a clear illustration of what kinds of problems are being imported.

Yet still the political Left insists that ‘diversity is our strength’ and that all illegal immigrants are actually doctors, engineers or scientists. Except that they are not.
