The Duke Of Edinburgh Oldham

An Oldham pub that was at the centre of a police probe following a private celebration of the Fuhrer’s birthday last April, has found itself back in the news after allowing a violent black rap video featuring guns, ammunition and rolls of cash to be filmed inside the pub.

The Duke of Edinburgh on Market Street, Royton, Oldham, gave permission for ‘Trashy’ to film the ‘gangsta’ video. His latest rap song, ‘Trashy with class is it a crime?’ was filmed both inside and outside of the pub. In the video, the pool table in the pub has rolls of cash and bullets strewn over the felt. A scantily clad (White) girl is dancing next to the rapper. Other performers in the video make gun signs throughout.

Last May nine people who were suspected of attending the birthday celebration were arrested on suspicion of a section 18 public order offence. The nine are still under strict bail conditions awaiting a CPS decision on whether they will be charged.

The pub said staff were unaware of the celebration until the following day. They sat in the corner and didn’t cause any problems. Nobody complained. Even so, the nine had their doors kicked in at 5am and property seized.

We have heard (but not had it confirmed) that the pub has been closed down for allowing the black rap video to be recorded on its premises without permission from the brewery.
