Multiculturalism again, but the mainstream media do not seem to be interested. After all, over 500 police officers involved in a series of raids on an Islamic cult is not a major news story, is it?
“Hundreds of police swoop on former orphanage in northern England as part of a major investigation into allegations of serious sexual abuse, modern slavery and forced marriage.”
“Nine arrests after dawn raid on Islamic religious group’s secretive HQ over allegations of sexual abuse, modern slavery and forced marriage. Cheshire Police made multiple arrests after carrying out a raid on three properties in Crewe connected with the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light.”
Cheshire Police needed extra officers borrowed from Merseyside Police, Greater Manchester Police and Lancashire Police to carry out this massive operation. Yet media coverage has largely been restricted to news outlets based in the North West of England. Situations like this do not meet the liberal/progressive image of ‘diversity is our strength’.
This is how the Manchester Evening News reported the raids:
“Huge police raid on Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light HQ in forced marriage and slavery probe. Cheshire Police are investigating allegations involving members of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light group in Crewe.
“This morning (April 29), officers raided three properties in connection to the group, including the HQ at Webb House. The Ahmadi religious community, linked to a branch of Islam, are based at the former orphanage, with around 150 people living at the property.
“Multiple arrests have been made, though Cheshire Police has not yet confirmed how many. More than 500 officers were involved in the operation this morning at around 8.50am.
“More than 500 officers raided three properties and made the arrests on Wednesday after being alerted to allegations involving members of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light. The group, linked to a branch of Islam, has a headquarters at a former orphanage in the Cheshire town. Police said six men and three women of Mexican, Italian, American, Spanish, Swedish and Egyptian nationalities are in custody.”
The alleged offences are said to have taken place in 2023 and relate to a woman who was a member of the group at the time. The operation, involving officers from Cheshire Police and neighbouring forces, was “the outcome of a detailed and robust investigation”, said Chief Superintendent Gareth Wrigley.
“Nine people arrested.
“In an update, Cheshire Police said nine people have been arrested in connection with the investigation into allegations of serious sexual abuse, forced marriage and modern slavery.
“A 30-year-old Mexican man has been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, sexual assault and forced marriage offences.
A 44-year-old Italian woman has been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences and sexual assault.
A 42-year-old American man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
A 42-year-old American man has been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences, sexual assault and forced marriage offences.
A 35-year-old Spanish man has been arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault, assault and forced marriage offences.
A 39-year-old Swedish woman has been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences and sexual assault.
A 35-year-old Egyptian man has been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences and sexual assault.
A 43-year-old American woman has been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences and sexual assault.
A 30-year-old Mexican man has been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences and sexual assault.
A further 13 people have been arrested on suspicion of public order offences, which do not relate to the investigation.”
This is a much bigger story than the mainstream news media nationally have made of the situation. While it is true that these are just the opening events of the investigation and the eventual court trials will be many months away, this story has not just national but also international elements to it, and yet where are mainstream headlines?
Compared with the coverage given to the ‘BM Manchester Nine’ raids last year over an Adolf Hitler birthday celebration in an Oldham pub, the massive police operation in Crewe is getting less high-profile coverage from the mainstream media in the North West, and certainly nationally.
Consider how low-key these follow-up reports are compared with the publicity given to the Greater Manchester Police operation against the ‘Manchester Nine’.
Updated News Post
“Ten people who were arrested in relation to serious offences involving members of a religious group in Crewe have now been released on bail.
“On Wednesday 29 April, more than 500 officers from Cheshire Police, with the support of colleagues from neighbouring forces, conducted warrants at three addresses in Crewe following reports of serious sexual offences, forced marriage and modern slavery.
“All of the offences are reported to have occurred in 2023 whilst the victim, a woman, was a member of a religious group called the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light.
“Following questioning, the seven men and three women have all now been released on bail pending further enquiries. A number of conditions have been put in place as part of their bail conditions, and in addition, officers have also applied for Slavery and Trafficking Risk Orders against five of the suspects.
“These civil orders will provide additional restrictions that will enable us to manage individuals and ensure there is no risk to the public and other members of the group. The orders are all set to be heard at Magistrates’ Court on Friday 1 May. Chief Superintendent Gareth Wrigley said:
“Firstly, I’d like to thank local residents for their support and patience following the warrants, which resulted in some disruption in the local area. I would also like to reiterate that it is not an investigation into the religion, our investigation solely focuses on the serious allegations which have been reported to us.
“Following the warrants, we are continuing to work closely with our partners to provide the appropriate advice and safeguarding to other members of the group. Additional patrols in the local area will remain in place throughout the bank holiday weekend to provide reassurance, and I would urge anyone with any concerns to speak to an officer.
“I’d also remind residents that this remains a live investigation which will take some time, and I would ask that people do not speculate while the case remains ongoing.”

UPDATE | Ten people arrested following serious allegations at a religious group in Crewe. 30 April 2026.
“Officers investigating reports of several serious offences alleged to have involved members of a religious group called the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light in Crewe, have arrested ten people.
“In March 2026, Cheshire police were made aware of allegations of serious sexual offences, forced marriage and modern slavery, reported to have taken place in 2023. All of the offences involved one victim, a woman, who was a member of the group at the time the offences occurred.
“Following a detailed investigation into the allegations, officers have today, Wednesday 29 April, conducted three warrants in Crewe, including Webb House, along with two other properties on Nantwich Road and Badger Avenue, leading to the arrest of six men and three women.
“More than 500 officers from Cheshire Police and neighbouring forces have been involved in the operation, which took place at around 8.50am on the 29th April 2026.
“The investigation has been supported by officers from Europol, the Swedish Police Authority and the Garda (Irish police).”
And of course, Cheshire Police had to offer this qualifying statement:
“Today’s operation is the outcome of a detailed and robust investigation into reports of serious sexual offences, forced marriage and modern slavery involving members of a religious group called Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light in Crewe.
“While those arrested are members of the group, I want to make clear that this is not an investigation into the religion, this is an investigation into the serious allegations which have been reported to us.”
Given the international element to this situation, it is very surprising (or perhaps not) that the national mainstream news media in Britain have not given this wider and more in-depth coverage.
But there again, anything that exposes the problems of diversity and multiculturalism is very unwelcome to both the political Left and this socialist Labour government and their media allies. That is why Cheshire Police had to issue their ‘clarification’ that “While those arrested are members of the group, I want to make clear that this is not an investigation into the religion.”
Whatever else, the Left demands that diversity has to be shielded from criticism, and multiculturalism has to be defended at all costs.
